¹ Discount cards are sold at Olíudreifing on Kleppsmýrarvegur in Reykjavík, at the toll booth on the north side of Hvalfjörður tunnel, and at the office of Spölur ehf. (owner and operator of the tunnel) on Mánabraut 20 in Akranes, tel. (+354) 431 5900.

² and ³ E-tag Electronic Toll Collection units are available to subscribers at Olíudreifing Hólmaslóð 8-10 in Reykjavík, at the N1 petrol stations on Ártúnshöfði in Reykjavík and at Háholt in Mosfellsbær, the OLÍS petrol station on Sundagarður/Kleppsvegur in Reykjavík, and the Select Store on Bústaðavegur at Öskjuhlíð in Reykjavík. E-tag units are also available at N1 and OLÍS petrol stations in Borgarnes, OLÍS in Akranes and at the office of Spölur ehf. (owner & operator of the tunnel) on Mánabraut 20 in Akranes, tel. (+354) 431 5900.
  • Subscribers pay a ISK 3,000 deposit for the E-tag unit, and prepay for the trips.
  • E-tags are registered to individual vehicles, and it is prohibited to transfer the E-tag units to other vehicles. Families with two or more vehicles, therefore, must have an E-tag unit for each one. However, all E-tag units may be linked to a single subscription account. If a family for example has two cars and two E-tag units, and purchases 40- or 100-trip subscriptions, the vehicles have equal access to the credit balance.
  • An E-tag unit is a small box/case that is glued to the inside of the windscreen behind the rear-view mirror. An antenna receives a signal from the E-tag unit at the Hvalfjörður Tunnel's E-toll lane, automatically registers the trip in the system's database, and deducts it from the subscriber's account. When all trips on the subscriber's account have been deducted, an invoice is mailed for the next 40 or 100 trips, or, if the subscriber has made arrangements with his bank to automatically debit his bank account, payment is electronically transfered to Spölur.
